For the sake of historical reference, the knee-jerk reaction to the SP-1 on this forum was pretty much the same as it is to this marker. There may be something to the notion that the veteran paintball players and marker owners here can give a initial response based on experience, but really, the general attitude reads more like the attitudes of Ion owners belittling mag owner for packing such low rate of fire. Claims against SP as a company are, of course, valid, but the instantly negative attitude towards its products make less sense, and more often than not arguments surrounding SP products seem steeped in overwhelming bitterness.

I still challenge the notion that the decision to create this additional brand was based on any general dislike of the Smart Parts brand, and argue that it is instead a matter of wanting to create an additional marketing platform and gain more market-share. Which is risky, but it could pay off quite well.

For $1500 a pop just so it can verbalize "**** off" to me? I doubt it.

I am inclined to agree, considering the buzz words used in the press release, and the fact that they state they are a subsidiary of SP in the release as well. This is a focused effort at a high end clientel. As a whole the people at SP don't seem to be losing any sleep with regards to what esteem they are held in by what is a essentially niche market. They seem to be doing quite well if their quartely reports are any indication.

cockers are terrible design, no doubt. but that just makes them more fun to shoot! they have so much character, none of this bland "thump" or "pop" of a modern gun! i love cockers, but i wont defend there design.

point being, you never try to argue a technical issue with an engineer. engineers can get into some pretty wicked technical arguments, but the best plan is it sit on the sidelines and see who comes out with the proof.

me, nothing like putting a cube of cake in a tensile tester to prove that cake is indeed a hooke's law material with a very low yield strength.

I agree with PJ. Only difference, I've owned an SP and it was junk straight out of the box. It leaked, the electronics were faulty. It never should have gotten past quality control. But, it did and I happened to get it. SP customer support was of no help whatsoever. I lost all confidence in SP and, to be honest, once I lose confidence in a company... it's gone. I don't care what kind of improvements they make after that. I won't go back. Is it fair to call it a POS, well, no. I withdraw my statement to that effect. However...

It's still mofugly. And I'm too pretty to be seen with an ugly gun in my hand.

You people disgust me. I love you.

to be fair, anyone who will drop 1500 bucks on a gun that will be worth 300 in a year is a moron with money.

So Budd didn't steal the cocker from Glenn? Then Glenn must be lying? Isn't it common folklore that the blazer is the extension of Glenn's original thought on a auto cocking system which Budd stole, and then patented? Or do I have my bedtime stories confused? I do know that Glenn was claiming prior art when he sent his reply to the Action Markers C&D letter that came from WGP.

actually out of all marker makers, and you should probably know this, SP does not roll at new markers on a yearly basis as a re-freshening. They don't do that because they recoginze that it a.) hurts re-sale, and b.) oversaturates the market, thereby reducuing their ability to sell new markers.

i still have a sneaking suspicion that glen's original autococking KP -Camile- was probably taken by something 'Orr'ible...
