| #1 Notice the tank type...Stako. They seem to end up involved in every "exploding reg" or "oil in the tank" story. #2 Why is this crap happening in Europe all the time? I can't remember the last time I heard of a reg exploding at a US game or tourney. The last incident I remember hearing about was the CO2 bottle fatality. Edit: Something looks odd. Does the draxxus reg use holes on the screw in part to vent air if the reg unscrews? I know that the Myth uses channels, not holes to vent the air. I'd think holes would weaken the strength of the part, leading to possible failures like the one pictured. |

| I'd say about 75% of all fiber-wrapped HPA tanks in Europe are Stako's. Also note that so far, no Stako tank itself has failed, it's always been the regs. And I'm pretty sure Draxxus regs are sold separately over here, or maybe they come on Stako tanks sometimes. Either way, there have been replies by other people saying things like "I bought a Draxxus reg last week too, I'm getting scared now!", so I'm fairly sure they can be bought here. Also, the dent in the reg (and yellow plastic thread cover) might also be the result of the reg hitting the wall like he described.

| All tank regs must have a hole drilled in the threads - it is a safety measure in case someone screws off the reg instead of taking the tank of of the ASA. TF

| most likely there was a hairline flaw in the metal the reg was made of and the reg split along that line. it could also have been an impurity in the metal the reg was made of that caused the failure. if this is happening to a large number of the same Reg's, i would suspect that there is a bad production run. if it is only happening when installed to a specific bottle, i would first check into who is doing the install. it could be that by over torquing the regs they are cracking the metal and creating a missile waiting to be launched. when storing your co2 or hpa bottles i recommend that you put them in some kind of container like a tool box or cooler. the cooler (with no ice) will keep the temperature stable for the co2 and the container will remove energy or deflect any flying objects in the event that for some reason the bottle fails. it's a simple easy thing to do, and it will reduce stories like this. we don't need the small minds with big mouths that want to ban everything fun to have any more reason to beef about Paintball.
