Draxxus Reg Exploded in the Netherlands

With translation from Dutch:

oh ja de reg was een week oud en er is geen olie gebruikt. Leipe **** dus...
(Oh, and the reg was a week old, and there was no oil involved. Freaky sh!t...)

Dit is dus vanavond bij mij thuis gebeurd, gelukkig is iedereen nog heel, op een stukje muur na en een vriendin die over de rooie ging.
(This just happened at home tonight, fortunately everyone is alright, except for a part of a wall and the girlfriend that freaked out.)

(Ofcourse there will be e-mails, but this is more of a wake up call for everyone. I'll leave my bottle empty after playing next time before I take it home next time. This is just scary sh!t)

En de fles lag gewoon langs de eettafel in de woonkamer. Toen een klap en de reg vloog tegen de muur aan en de fles de halve kamer rond.
(And the bottle was just laying by the dinner table. Than suddenly a bang and the reg hit the wall and the tank flew halfway through the room)

I can't say I have a lot of experience with HPA tanks since I mostly use CO2, but I have seen very worn threads on several regs... Now I'm no expert what so ever. but if threads on a reg wear out quickly on an HPA reg, something tells me the materials used aren't quite sufficient for the job... Either way, scary!

The top of that bottle looks weird. Is it possible that the reg was over torqued when it was installed at the factory?

Either that or the materials are crap. I popped the bolts on my grand cherokees u joint doing a neutral drop. To my surprise the bolts were like pennies. Weak as material coated with a metal/alloy of some sorts. From the outside they looked perfectly normal and solid, but when snapped in half you could see it was basically filler.

This is why I hate all the companies trying to venture into markets w/o expertise in said area. All the companies are trying to maximize profits with low quality goods is really destroying the overall market. This is another reason I am anti-establishment and reverting back to the old school roots.

This says a lot about the current state of affairs in our sport. Hell I didn't even know draxxus made a reg. I'll have to call ronan and see if the company has even heard of it yet.

The way I keep my 92/4500 it has a direct shot to my head while I sleep from 3" away.

Shouldn't have been doing that to a poor Cherokee. Those bolts may have been replaced at some point - they should have been at least a Grade 5 bolt. Occasionally an aftermarket u-joint can come with replacement bolts, but most of those are not up to snuff.

Stories like one above are the reason I don't want to run HPA on my stuff. I may break down this winter if my Typhoon won't run on CO2, but I'm not switching unless I absolutely have to (and even then I might just rent a tank. Let the other guys worry about it - I've got my own health and my wife and kids to think about.)

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them.”

It was a brand new Grand Cherokee so I am assuming they were original parts.

It makes you kind of wonder what he was doing to cause this. It would probably take quite a large smack to break off the reg like that.

it looks like he dropped the tanke (see the top of reg) and it was just weak and broke. I really don't think it exploded cause they have to test their products way beyone the standard (meaning to with stand more than the normal pressure of the tank) by LAW. Also, looks like that could happen if some bozo loctited the reg on there.

edit: he also said the reg was new. That tank is not a DXS tank and DXS doesnt sell regs seperately. Something really seems fishy to me.
