A good example (non pornographic) is the comparison of alcoholism rates in the US, where minors are not allowed to drink at all - outside of very limited religious ceremonies - and France, where a lot of folks were given wine as soon as they were old enough to hold a glass. Significantly, there are far more alcoholics in the US than in France...) the law is, not allowed to do it.

if a business, either deliberately or inadvertently, becomes an enabler of such illegal activity, they are engaging in an illegal activity. "I didn't know what was going on" is not a mitigating excuse.
very good points. And yes, I agree with you that what pbnation was doing could make them enablers of illegal activity. The issue I have is, will anyone actually do anything about it?

The statements I read were not "internal corporate memos." Internal memos would be like what was probably sent to their staff. The ones I read were posted in public areas of PbN. Other sites just repeated what was posted there. They didn't break the story. If PbN had only addressed the staff with this issue and tried to hide it or cover it up, and it was reported somewhere else, THAT would be breaking a news story.

I guess you missed this post, made by me, before yours.

Sounds like a pretty big deal to me.
So, I don't think I'm missing that point at all. I never implied this wasn't a serious issue. As a matter of fact, I've said it was very serious. My comments were directed at the fact that people are making it out like PbN got caught, or was covering this up, and got outed. When in fact, they outed themselves.

Honestly? If it were my child? Yeah, I'd have called the FBI and had the site shut down.

Funniest thing I have read all day.

Lol get off my lawn.

I use to be a rather known poster on PBN. Have had several dealings with Ed Reiker, both good and bad.

I came to this conclusion from talks with him (nothing he said by the way, just the tone I took from it). PBN is his playground, he makes the rules and decides when to break them. Don't like it? Don't come to his playground.

PBN serves a purpose. But I do not post there for enjoyment any longer. I pay my ASM fee's and post for business related purposes. Usually when I need to sell something, the site is great for that.

Well I really have nothing to say about this. Porn is funny to me and getting all worked up over it is even funnier.

Ah, I see this is your first post on MCB. May I be the first to welcome you to the community.

I feel that the reason that this is such a hot issue is not the legitimate legal reasons, nor is it that people are up in arms over the evils of porn. It's simply this.........

I think there's a lot of people would just love to PBN take one on the chin! Maybe see them get a little "payback" from the FBI, for the way that they've been treated over there in the past. A little "what goes around comes around!"

Just that simple.

Ripperdoc -- "I'll take [Crime and Punishment] for $600, Alex..."

Trebek -- "The classification of several grave crimes, such as murder, rape, burglary, or distributing pornographic material or website links via the internet to minors, punishable by a more stringent sentence than that given for a misdemeanor."

*beep beep beep*

Trebek -- "Ripperdoc."

Ripperdoc -- "What is a felony?"

Trebek -- "Correct for $600. You have control of the board."

I think you've hit the nail on the head. While I think it's a very serious issue, I also think there are lots of people, for various reasons, that would like to make a lot more out of it than it really is. It's sad to see this happen over there. But IMO, it's almost just as sad to see people with an ax to grind and an agenda trying to milk it for all it's worth. I find it all very petty. But that's what hate and bitterness does to people.
