you I respected. I actually used to respect a decent number of the mods, many of whom now live solely in small talk and can't be bothered to check in on the areas they are responsible for or respond to reported posts or have simply disappeared.

Which, as far as real life consequences, still falls under being a jerk, not illegal.

When it comes down to it, being kicked off a forum isn't a big deal, having to register as a pedophile for the rest of your life is. These people begging to get their user accounts back need to do a reality check and go hide somewhere until this blows over. The smart ones have probably already chucked their hard drives in a river.

Thank you, I greatly appreciate that. It was comments like those that kept me there for such a long time. I too used to respect most of the staff, well the other 20 or so that actually modded. However, since my departure and subsequent actions of the PBN brass, I have lost all care and respect for most of them.

I used to scream to the heavens about them fostering the idiocy that is smalltalk. I was one of 3 mods that thought we should take some responsibility in how kids are growing up. But what do I know, they have an official drug use thread.

I always wondered why that was ok....As a mod/admin on another site, that would not stand...on Pbn they look the other way. I am all for ADULTS making their own decision, but their is no way to be certain "Joe Poster" is a legal adult

But you are correct. It is otherwise completely unreadable. It wasnt always that way. From 92-95, the content, and maturity was close to this forum. The year the AOL hooked into usenet was the start of a severe decline.

Moderations is always a tricky issue. Too often, mods are poorly chosen, and don't understand what the purpose of a mod is. Instead, they use it as a status symbol, abusing the power given to them.

At PBF, I would tell anyone who asks to be a mod "The first rule, anyone who asks to be a mod is automatically rejected". If they are asking, then they want it for the wrong reason.

Mod-status should never be a "reward". Instead, it should only be reserved for those select few who have a honest desire to make things better.

Just read over everything to do with the porn issue and frankly, i'm not surprised why it happened.
For some reason forums seem to spawn drama of epic proportions.
I see this getting very nasty before it's resolved.
