attacks on TB are strictly of the 'kill the messenger' variety. He can be abrasive and sometimes 'holier-than-thou', but: If your house was on fire, are you going to worry about the supposed character of the person who's phone you need to borrow to call 911? |

Ok, so I've spent the last 2 days reading stuff about this all over the internet. As a matter of fact, it's how I found this site. Since this site seems to have the most mature users (based on post I've read), I have a question... Why is it that everyone is reporting this like TB or 68.Cal broke a huge story on PbN's dirty little secret? From what I can tell, it was PbN themselves that broke the story. Every other site that reports the story references PbNs public announcements regarding the issue as their source. So, how did they break some HUGE story on PbN? PbN broke the story. It appears to me that PbN was slow to act, but in the end did the right thing and didn't try to hide it or cover it up. But other sites, including some post in this thread, are either implying or openly saying that they "outed PBN" or that PbN is only replying because they (the other sites) broke the story. People are implying that there is some big cover up and that if it weren't for TB or 68.Cal, PbN would have gotten away with it. But if you follow the story all the way back to the beginning, that is just not true. PbN broke the story. Or am I missing something. Anyone have a link to a story that predates PbN's announcements? Or that doesn't use their announcements as the original source? Last edited by yellowhammer; 04-19-2008 at 09:58 AM. |

I think they got a few insights that PBN may have left out, from what I can gather. I could be wrong. Welcome to the site by the way. Thanks for thinking we're "mature" though!

Well, it looks like TB has some access to both ASM forums and moderator forums and so he was able to access information that hadn't been cleaned up for a press release. Compare the original post in which the prospect of jail time and sex offendor status is brought up to the toned down release, and remember which came out first. [edit] Soo, looks like my joke about porn links didn't go over too well. Too soon? Perma-banned for posting that president killer kid.

A better analogy would be that you turn on your grill to cook up your steaks, and your neighbor, who really doesn't like you because you're mad his dog ****s on your lawn, calls 911 to tell them your house is on fire.

I always forget that not everyone has access to the ASM area. But the original statement there wasn't cleaned up at all. It was very harsh and did mention all the things TB and 68.cal are talking about. And even though that forum isn't open to everyone, it's not some secret society that you have to be inducted into. You pay, you get in. And it's not like anything said there is really secret anyway. I forget where, but I found where someone posted the entire content of that statement in a non-ASM forum. CS was telling people what they did was stupid and warning them about the possible consequences of their actions, including being listed as a sex offender for the rest of their lives. Don't get me wrong, I don't think that PbN handled everything exactly right. If they had, it never would have gotten out of hand like it did. It was allowed to go on too long, either through apathy or negligence. Some members of their staff were involved and or looked the other way. And as members of their staff, the mods that were involved let others to believe it was all ok. But, at the same time, I think others are adding to the story to make it seem more sensational than it really is. In the end, it was PbN that stopped this practice and it was PbN that broke the story. And unless some other information comes out, it seems that it was an internal decision. Lets be honest and fair and give credit where credit is due. The truth doesn't need any embellishing. |

it was just porn. what's the big deal? It's not like they were making the porn at pbnation HQ and distributing it. looks to me like a lot of nothing. |
