we had FPPL Player Injury today

i want o post here so we can send well wishes people i played with couple times and really nice person

message from mrmag11 who runs then the fppl in fl.

Hey gang, I wanted to get this information out to anyone who might be interested. As those of you know who were at the FPPL event today, we had a pretty severe injury to one of the FPPL brethren. Rory Phipps from Los Pumpoleros suffered a femur fracture while sliding into a prop. The amazing staff of the Polk County Fire Rescue where at the field in minutes to and had him stabilized. Thanks to Lee and Danny for all the help with getting Rory prepped for the EMT's. And thanks to the other players and fans who did what they could to help during the time.

Anyway, Rory has been admitted to Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, FL. I called to check on his status and all they could tell me is that he is still in the ER. I plan on going to visit him tomorrow. If anyone would like to call and give him your support, that would be amazing. The number to the hospital is 863-687-1200 and once he has a room number, they will transfer you to him. Rory is from Venice and his mom and girlfriend came to Lakeland to be with him. So any support, whether a prayer or phone call, would be awesome!

Dude that sucks. I broke my femur when I was 18 months old and was in a full body cast for 6weeks. I don't know him and he probably doesn't know me, but tell him Harb wishes him the best.

I also took care of the other thread.

Wow - that is a big bone to break (the biggest in fact) - what kind of prop?

Yes it is the biggest and strongest bone, must have been a hell of a prop

If I remember correctly it was a spike. I was there at the field when it happened but it was all the way on the other side of the field from where everyone was sitting and watching so I am not sure exactly what happened with the slide/crash that caused the break.

Everyone was on the ball. Any players, parents and field staff that had medical training immediatly came onto the field once 911 was called out from the players and staff on the field. Rory was a real trooper and did exactly what was asked of him by the guys on scene. I know that he had to be in alot of pain but he made sure to stay as still as possible to minimize causing anymore damage. The field owner made sure to clear a path for the responding medical teams to get in right to the field but cutting open the netting to make access more easy to the field.

We players that were there responded the best that we could to help. Pat, mrmag11 at SCP, uprooted his collapsable canopy and got it out on the field to cover Rory since he was laying out directly in the sun and it was quite warm in Lakeland today.

Overall just a horrible thing to have happen but it was a great showing of everyone there to respond as quickly as they did.

Our prayers are with Rory.

Here is the link to SCP where Pat is keeping us posted to the ongoing conditions of Rory.

I know that on SpecOps, there's a guy named FemurBreaker b/c he's broken his femur several times. Should give him a heads up, maybe he might have some tips for this guy on getting through the healing process and all.

That has to royally suck, though: breaking your strongest bone doing something you love.

I remember that guy, he hasn't been too active lately has he?

Tell Rory to get well!
