your reading the summery statement of the reporter that wrote this dreck. carry the MARKER in the trunk and there is no problem. now i do not agree with the toy gun ban thing. "REPLICA TOY GUNS" were prohibited here in Canada in 1983. back then the toy guns were for the most part black plastic shell, and when you pulled the trigger a striker rattled against the side of the shell simulating the sound of the gun shooting. now kids in Canada have NERF weapons, loud day glow colours, rapid or pump shooting, and THEY ALL LAUNCH A PROJECTILE OF SOME KIND!! NERF Darts, NERF Arrows, NERF Balls and so on... as a kid we had silly looking noise makers. today kids can actually shoot stuff. ever been hit in the eye by a NERF Arrow? I HAVE!! (shot at me by the child's father) had to wear an eye patch for 3 weeks!!

If i had my carry with me and some one pulled an air soft or "toy gun" this would not be a situation. Would the burden be on me for pulling a weapon or god forbid shooting a kid or just some dumb *** with an air soft gun. The only logical solution is to get these kids and other individuals better gun education and to hold the parents responsible if the kid is a minor and hold the person responsible if there not. | |

I dont even think there should be a question of banning things that resemble a firearm. I think it is fine the way it is, if someone is brandishing a replica gun in a car or holding up a store with one then let them get shot for there stupidity. the person doing it with a fake gun would do the same thing with a real one so treat them the same way. As for driving with your marker, if you drive with your marker in your hand then your just asking for it, just put it in the gearbag and problem solved.

What ever happened to parents teaching children commen sense gun saftey?? My dad taught me to shoot very young, but before i could even handle the real gun he taught me how to handle firearms with my toy guns, Never pont it at anyone, keep it to the sky or to the ground, don't unsafty untill your ready to fire...well i don't have to list this stuff, its all common sense, i see things on paintball fields that the newbie kids do that drives me nuts, parents need to teach thier children. Bans on toy guns is part of the problem in my opinion, it just promotes this "gun paranoid society" where everyone walks around saying "guns kill, guns are bad" and other ignorant statements, guns are tools, simple as that, just like a dad teaches his son to use a power drill or wrench or whatever, should be the same with a gun.

Besides, to pass on stuff like that to the kids the parents have to have some common sense as well. Just look at Oprah and Dr Phil shows to see that, sadly, all too many parents haven't got the ability to rub two synapses together and produce so much as a single brain spark. That leaves the onus on the Governement much as I'm loathe to admit that. An ad campaingn that says something like "if it looks like a gun and you point it at someone and get shot for it don't come crying to us" would be a good place to start. And yes, I agree that it's a sad day indeed when we need to rely on the government to take on the role of the sensible parent.
