Pure Energy Tanks

I would highly recommend avoiding new Pure Energy HPA tanks. My home field has brought in a set of brand new tanks to replace those which are going out of hydro, and there have been innumerable issues with burst disc ruptures, separating reg halves, fill nipple leaks etc etc. In one instance, a customer's brand new Pure Energy tank would not give any output pressure while filled at 2k psi.

Stay away, far away!

I too have had issue with Pure Energy regs.

The tanks pass inspection fine. The regs I replaced.

Yep... I third it.

The new run of PE tanks we got at work are awful.. I have to replace the fill nipple orings right after the first fill.

Since these are rentals, are these the 3kpsi steelies, or higher capacity fiber-wrapped tanks? Guess it doesn't matter if they use the same regs, which sounds like the problem?

The regs are the problem, but FWIW, they are 3k/47ci tanks.

Mine were 68/4500 and 68/5000 fiber wraps.

The last fill I got in the 68/5000 was actually a bit over 4500. The reg started ticking

Tick...tick...tick.. and I was loosing air from somewhere. It eventually ticked itself down and emptied itself completely out. I sent it off the next day for a new Crossfire reg.

Sounds like an issue with one or more of PMI's vendors.

Fill nipples, burst discs, gauges, etc. are generally not going to be part that is
made in house. Maybe they started buying overseas to cut costs and got
burned.

I have an older Pure Energy 68/4500 tank/reg and have had no problems, but I
switched to a Myth reg a little while ago anyways.

I'm sure that all Pure Energy does is screw the regs onto the bottles, if that. There are issues with assembly as well as material quality. The reg halves separating, for instance, is caused because set screws are not installed correctly from the factory.

I had the same issue last month with a friend's 47ci. The reg halfs seperated.

This is just disgusting, I can't believe this is such a widespread problem. Why can't manufacturers take pride in a good product anymore?
