They have transparent aluminum now too that they are testing for windows on armored vehicles. They had transparent aluminum in Star Trek also.

No to sound like a prick...but actually the aluminum is translucent... light passes through it.. the clarity is the issue.

There is also translucent concrete.

Looks transparent to me.
With new smaller particle sintering and better polishing techniques it can be made transparent.

It's not Aluminum (metal) it's Alumina (ceramic)
