You can do the same with aluminum, it just takes a bit more effort. Of course, aluminum can corrode and doesn't hold a polish as long as brass, but brass is softer and you can easily go a bit too far in polishing it out. Once you remove too much material, you can't add it back.

Also, don't forget that some research obtained from Glen, and Tom Kaye... Have deemed brass barrels far superior than alluminum in how gelatin based paint glides with less friction.
My only concern is that it may not clean it self as well as the stock CCI brand. I've always felt that the CCI worked well in that respect.

In my experience, the barrel I have on my Phantom now (a stock 14" that's been cleanly cut to 8" & re-crowned, so there's no porting) is the straightest & flattest shooting barrel I've ever used. I did try a brass J&J in it years ago, but sold it because it was twice the weight and no more accurate. I've never had any luck with the barrel "cleaning itself", though. Once I break a ball, it shoots like crap until I squeegie & swab it out, which is why I really try not to break any balls. When the inside is 100% clean & dry, it's just insanely accurate.

I would think a very polished stainless would work really well, and not scratch that easily.

PPS has never fully listed the barrel threads they can do it has always been a call and ask deal to find out.(incidentally it is the best way to deal with them too)

That may be true but just like porting, rifling, and length, it has no bearing on accuracy. There would probably be a miniscule difference in air efficiency but nothing worth while.

Less friction should means less barrel breaks, right? Palmer has to have a good enough reason to trust brass the most when it comes to barrels, heck, it comes stock even on his aluminum production guns.
