Well, there is outlaw and then there is illegal. Was there ever a time when playing paintball was outright illegal in the US? I seem to recall an issue with a particular state, NJ perhaps, but I don't think it was really an issue in most places.

I highly doubt paintball could ever be banned here though. The argument would simply be rediculous when examined in the context of reality.

Well, in all fairness...if there's anyone who knows about trivializing human life, it's the Germans.

I wrote an article years ago about the subject, but the gist of it was that any sports is basically tempered mock combat. When you play sports you learn sportsmanship and that helps you to learn to be civilized. I made an argument that playing sports is one of the basis for civilization.

Meh, leave it to the Germans to overreact.

I would agree with that.

I'm playing Assassin's Creed right now and there is a part early in the game where the character is told to eliminate some people babysitting away from a battle and he wants to go after the two leading the armys. He is told that would be a bad idea because then there would be warriors with nothing to do. Random I know, but that is why there are sports, because it's a civilized way to compete and there are so many variations as opposed to 'go kill him'.

Maybe they should ban soccer in Europe because it causes fans to become violent.

This is great news! Now all those great oldschool guns the Germans have been hoarding will be up in the BST!

Wait, where's the dodgy!?

meh, I always hated left and right wing. Of course there needs to be laws against who can use markers, but banning them outright is just insane.

I love being an independent... Remember, Germany IS the land that bans all video games that feature nazi's, or nazi symbols :P

Good point. Wars have started over soccer(small, short ones, but still). My AP Euro teacher has a huge scar from getting hit with a chain in a hooligan fight(he's from England).

How is it fair for every respectable paintball player in Germany to suffer the consequences of some parents inability to raise their child to be a stable member of society? Was there a little Gardner dressed up like the devil on his shoulder? It's frakked up!

When the issue of banning paintball in New Jersey came up years ago, this industry had strong, mature & respectable figure heads step up to the plate to get things turned around. With many of the old guard gone, what do you think would happen if our government suddenly got the bright idea to ban paintball here!?

Reality? We're talking about the government here.

You would see all of the old guard still alive come out of the wood works to support us.
