Interesting...but I dunno, I wasn't planning on running a Rotor on this anyway..if anything probably a pocket hopper, springfeed or nothing at all and using a pistol for "oh crap" moments. If you've got a bigass hopper on there to shoot a lot of paint, all I can say is Sniper: You're doing it wrong.

Gotta think though, it would be fun as heck to defend castle with. Use the hopper to generally light up the attackers, and switch to the FS to get at those pesky longballers.

This is precisely why I think First strike rounds will become more and more popular. Just to have a couple for the "cool" people standing in the open just out of reach from a normal ball, you know.. the ones who will often mock people by pointing out the balls barrely rolling to them, or pretending to catch the lifeless lobs... I know I would love to switch over and drill em right in the chest and or mask (ok, maybe a few of them in the throat, but thats a whole other story).

My only concern is busting a blood vessel ( in anger ) when drilling someone at 300ft and watching them through the scope as they casually wipe the paint and play on... Not only would I have to share some words with them, I would ask for my 75 cents back...

You know what? If we're at such a distance that I don't even need to take cover because you clearly can't hit me, and you decide that instead of trying to move up or find a better angle, your best option is to dump pod after pod my way, then I'm sorry, but you deserve to be taunted a little bit.

I think you're right in general though; if these become more prevalent, people will start getting a lot more serious about taking cover...

I actually think overall an increase in the use of more precise, longer-range rounds is bad for the sport. The last thing paintball needs is more hiding and sniping. One of the defining features of paintball is the relatively short engagement range due to the ballistics of the projectile.

One of the most discouraging things that can possibly happen to a new player is to get shot out and have no idea where the shot came from. If you get a significant increase in longball kills, this will happen more and more frequently, and players cannot even find out afterward where the attacker was.

The reason this is discouraging is make it difficult, if not impossible, for the player to figure out how to improve based on the result. Having no idea what is happening in a game then getting shot out without engaging the opponent, as far as I have seen, is terribly demoralizing for new players and can lead to apathy about the game.

I also think that a projectile that slows significantly at range leads to more possibility of dodging incoming rounds or getting bounces at range ... which are actually good experiences for new players. It keeps them feeling engaged and can lead to a longer-term relationship with the game that simply getting sniped out won't.

very interesting perspective. Luckily the rounds are expensive I guess.

Although I do expect to see a select few people with endless pockets shooting only FS... This again leads to your point, as fairness could come into play. The endless debate on expensive electros with high ROF vs lower end modestly priced markers being unfair will be amplified if those with deep pockets shoot FS rounds in the same quantities as regular rounds...

At the same time, I do not see this being a large problem...

I'd much rather see a beta-mag or "banana-style" mag for this thing... I can't get over how tall that thing appears to be.

I run into that problem all the time with gun forums. I think in theory it's to prevent spam from anti-gun activists, etc, but it's really just paranoia.
