More airsoft problems

I really don't know what to say about this. I've seen how real they look and having alot of law enforcement buddies, the opinions in my mind stands. People who screw around with those types of toys for attention or want to be cute, will get killed. I'd shoot someone point blank if I were in law enforcement if some dumb kid waved one of those around me. I have no pitty for idiots like that. I'd like to say better the Neg attention on that sport than ours, but that's a bees nest not worth wacking at the moment.

Really, its the kids fault, they have a orange tip for a reason. And NO the reason isn't so you can color it.

I know back in the dark ages when I was a kid I had all kinds of cool looking toy guns. Then people started getting shot by police, while playing around with real looking toys. Instead of fixing the problem by teaching everyone you don't point a toy gun at a cop, they did the kneejerk thing and banned the real looking toys. It really did not fix the real underlying problem, that is people having to take responsibilty for themselves being stupid. Maybe instead of banning the real looking toys, airsoft, capgun, or paintball, we should hammer those that misuse them.

That and how the masses get so enraged at police for shooting someone. What do you expect when you point a VERY realistic looking toy at a policeman? Come on people, grow up and aquire some comon sence. ("People" was not refering to the members of this forum)

Right now some mother tells her kid, "See the bad cop shot a poor kid with a toy." Instead that same mother should have said," See the cop shot little Johnny for being stupid ." The Darwin awards should become required reading in our schools, and maybe then people would learn from others being stupid before them. Yeah right, never underestimate stupid people. They have a talent for messing up that can never be prevented.

I agree that anybody who removes markings meant for their own protection deserves whatever comes to them, but i also think that Law Enforcement shouldn't just plead ignorant and wipe their hands of the matter. Educate the officers out in the field that might see them, some Airsoft looks realistic some doesn't. there are other options rather than shoot somebody. if police don't have time to think before they kill somebody they don't need to have a badge in the first place.

I work in a national retail store that sells airsoft (18+) and they have been flying off the shelves this season. You would be suprise (maybe not) at how many parents come into the store to buy whom don't like, don't agree with, or are unware of the "game" that thier child is playing. They are usually well educated adults who are not educated in airsoft (or paintball for that matter) and they need help from the sales person they are talking to. We are sure to inform the parents of the possible danger and often state many of the situations that were stated in the article.

I think as retailers we have a responsibility to our customer to inform them of the inherent dangers of the product and let them decide. Many times "mom" will come in because the child has convinced her it's safe, after talking to one of my sales people, she will decide to talk to "dad" before the purchase. Many of the parents are not supervising the games. Here's you new gun go play in the "street".

You would be suprised................ or are you?

I don't feel sorry for punk kids trying to be cool. It's kids like that who will get a sport I love banned due to sheer stupidity.
