Squall Question

Could I hack off a couple inches from the barrel end of a Squall (the barrel and feed tube) without any adverse effect other than possibly the plating flaking?

Well, the honing would be thrown off.

It would be like a blunderbuss with the end flaring out. I don't think that will help accuracy.

Not quite.

The whole elliptical honing thing is very debatable anyways. (Trust me, there will be at least 5 posts defending it and I'm sure this comment will spark quite a debate.)

I'm not sure how long a stock Squall barrel is, but I'm pretty sure that PPS doesn't offer elliptical honing on anything with an 8" barrel.

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them.”

I would honestly not worry too much about it. I have seen some Palmers modified after plating, and never seen any of the remaining plating flake off (avoiding abuse of course). As far as possible accuracy, I would not worry too much, I would think the inconsistency of paint would be a bigger problem that removing an inch or two.

Why not just find a micro-squall though? Very similar feel just pgp sized.

Micro squalls are much harder to get than a standard sized squall.

I've seen it done on a powder coated Paladin that had a big ding in the end of the barrel. Turned out mostly ok...the powder coating was kinda peeling to begin with. Still shoots great.
