Well, the way I look at it:
Paintballs move at less than half the speed of sound. Whatever range you shoot at, the sound of the shot reaches the target long before the paintball reaches them. Depending on their reaction speed, it can be very benefical to have a quiet marker that doesn't register to them as a "shot" when it is fired.
Also, in scenarios, the guy with the quiet marker in the middle of a large scale firefight can eliminate alot of opponents before they even realize he is firing at them due to surrounding noise.

LOL at your sig... I'm so saving that animated gif for later use.
SXC is a fun little field but it's EXTREMELY small... 150' along it's longest side.

With up to 20 people it's fun. Much more than that and it just gets dumb... you have no idea who's on your own team and invariably either shoot or get shot by your own team.

With up to 5 or 6 people, you can play a pretty fun game of Battle Royale.

BINGO.

If you set off a firecracker in a closed area, nobody will stay vertical. People are hardwired for survival and this kind of reaction is involuntary, entirely unconscious.

A quiet marker won't trigger your autonomous "duck" response - you have to think about it - which gives the guy/gal with the quiet marker a big advantage.

We have an indoor field here in north alabama. The morons had room for one field but divided it into 2 very small crappy fields. Be careful what you wish for. I hate playing there.
