More stock refinishing questions.

For now I am really thinking to have my stock duracoated black. I really dig the nickle and black stock look.

While I get closer to a finish of some type I need to focus more on getting the nicks and dings out of this stock. I can tell you it has well over 50 easily noticable areas that need touched.

Right now I am sanding the top coat off with one hundred grit. Can I use a chemical stripper such as BIX to do this for me?

I am not opposed to the hard work of sanding it down, but I have a can of bix in my work area.

Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you

Mods I posted this in the wrong area. I meant to put it into the sheridan forum.

If you're going to paint the stock, just fill the nicks and scratches with a filler. Bondo, fiberglass, or epoxy should work fine. Duracoat goes on very thin with an air brush so every rough spot will show through. I'd stay away from the chemical strippers unless you have a chemical to remove the stripper when your done. Any residue may cause the paint to bubble.

I dont like the idea of using a filler. Some of the damaged areas are upwards of a few inches long. I figure just sanding the old finish off will provide me with the best surface.

Those pictures are after a wipe down. So what you see is a pretty battle worn stock.

Sand it a little and take a look at how bad they realy are. And then go get some bondo for wood. Cause one thing to remember is "black is the most unforgiving color"
The slightest imperfection you see now. Will piss you off when your all painted.
