| Active Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: North Alabama | should I buy a houndstooth? wondering if I should buy a houndstooth. I usually play with a tippman model 98. I used a pump when I first got into paintball, and was decent with it. I am not a big speedballer, and am getting interested in the scenerio ball aspect, although I haven't been to one yet. Been playing about 10 yrs, and I am looking for a good pump to make life more challenging. I like the houndstooth the best as starting place sooo.... What mods are a must for the houndstooth? All that I see that I know I want are the barrel venting and the rear co2 feed. anything else that is worth the money? thanks! |

| MCB Member | This thread has some talk about Houndstooth's: http://mcarterbrown.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10162 You can a Houndstooth setup pretty much anyway you want, it comes down to your personal preferences. Porting is nice to have, powdercoating looks nice, classic finishes are amazing works of art and having dual bottle setup can make for a nice flexiable setup. Stablizers are really nice to have too.

| Seasoned Member | I think A/T's are standard on Houndstooths Anyways, good to hear. I'm kinda in the same boat as you I guess, except I've only been playing 2 years.

I asked how come I had to give up stuff and she didn't. She said she needed the makeup to look pretty for me. I told her that was what the beer was for. I don't think she's coming back... |

I was gonna go for a nasty, but I heard the extra weight doesn't equal the price. Plus my goal is to use less paint than my tipp. 98, not twice as much! Love those nasty's though. Quote:
1, what is a Stablizer? I know what an expansion chamber is, is it the same? 2. what do you mean by "side line stable in the hardline"? 3. autotrigger? is that where you can hold the trigger down and pump a bunch? 4. sight hood? help me out you experts! Side-line Stabilizer = http://www.palmer-pursuit.com/online...r-sideline.htm Hard line is non-braided steal air-line from your ASA or air-source to gun input. 3. Auto-trigger... yes, you hold the trigger and pump. The gun fires when you cock the pump forward on every stoke while the trigger is depressed. 4. Sight hood = ghost ring | |

Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: 5,987 posts | I think what I meant (although I only implied it) was that even though I own two of the finest pump markers on the market, a CCM 5 and a Sterling, I enjoy my Nasty Houndstooth so much that I am buying a regular HT to replace my CCM and Sterling as my primary marker. It wont be a nasty, just a center feed. I guess my point was the Houndstooth is a great choice, you wont be sorry.

| Active Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: North Alabama | thanks guys. I got it, a A Stabilizer is an excellent regulator, which would give me a more consistant flow of co2 into my gun. I will definatly ask palmers which one would work best for me. I like that idea, hopefully not too expensive, meaning under $50 for them to install. Auto-trigger, yes, gonna do that, I love that feature. But a sight hood? I will maybe pass on this, I was thinking along the lines of a sight rail that can mount a small scope or something. can that be done? Mar: oh... I get it. So you would kinda recommend palmers huh? Thanks for all your help so far by the way. |
