Craig swears that porting makes it more accurate by reducing the turbulence behind the ball.

Glenn has also said he prefers porting or a muzzle break to an unported barrel to reduce the turbulence. I wasn't aware the price difference was reduced.

I see porting and venting, what's the difference?
Also, is it sad or not, I had my first dream last night that my new gun was at the door. I hate waiting.

By the way, I went with single venting.

No difference between porting and venting; just different words for the same thing.

mac3kuby,
My HT, I posted a pic in your original thread, is single and it just fine. My 2k blazer is dual ported and it's silent. However, I'm able to run the blazer at a lower pressure which needs mentioning.

Well, Wyckester was correct about the main reason that I hate porting, but the rest of his post is all wet.

First off, I am pretty sure that Glenn and certainly Craig are fans of porting. In fact, I think Glenn stands in a pretty good place to claim that he pioneered the concept of taking the turbulance out of a paintball with "porting" in the form of his innovative muzzle brake design.

Secondly, I have experimented with the accuracy of ported vs. otherwise identical non-ported barrels on the same Blazer. Further, I have even noticed an accuracy difference on the SAME barrel when a PPS slider sleeve is utilized. The balls flew straighter and flatter with the slider extended such that the host barrel has benefit of the porting on the end, but negligible extension of barrel length.

So... I stand by my observations regarding porting and accuracy.

Also for thrive, the porting of your barrel has nothing to do with the fact that you Blazer operates at a lower pressure than your HT.

I know but dual porting + lower pressure, vs my HT, equals quieter marker...right?

Sorry if my post was misleading.

So it gives it a 'flatline' effect or is it the 'magic elves'?

IMO porting is a waist of time and money for to little gain.

I went with single venting. Also, in response to it being a waist of time, I have read too many reviews that disagree with you on several different web sites. Also, you posted no proof of your claim. I think that I made a good choice with the single vents, I was gonna get a nasty HT and the fact that it isn't recommended on double barrels was a big reason in not getting one. Also 250 bucks for using twice as much paint when I am getting a pump to save money on paint helped my decision.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback, now if I could just get my gun NOW I'd be happy.
