need advice

So, I have this blazer.
When I played with it the last time, I was using evolve paint. Aside from the random hook, inconsitant velocity, and pudding hit paint, it came out of the barrel as a solid ball.
When that paint was all gone, I switched to emr marblizer paint. This paint shredded as it came out the barrel.
I need some options on different barrels that I can use.
I'm considering getting the adaptors for the Blazer > Autococker
I'm not sure what I want if I do. They have 2 different sizes (.685 or .690) and they have with and without wedgits.
I guess it's time to ask, whats the differance.
Do I need the wedgits or the smaller bore adaptor.
I have a J&J edge kit that I want to use.
Inquiring minds want to know

i have several blazer barrels from .690 to .688 to .685 and w/ and w/out wedgits...

different paint at different temps is a real headache but i try to cover all the bases...

my next "build" at PPS will be w/ a .685 barrel...

So what exactly do the wedgits do
Will it make a differance if I get the biggest adaptor they have without the wedgits, if I have the J&J edge kit

i'm not really sure exactly what you want done. but call LORI on monday...

the wedgits are the small indents in the barrel where the first paintball will sit in the barrel ready to be shot. the wedgits prevent the smaller paint from just rolling out your barrel.
i had a .685 barrel w/ no wedgits where the paint would just roll out.
the .685 w/ wedgits was perfect...

between wedgits and detents you should be set...

If you have small paint the ball will just roll forward in the adapter until it hits the control bore of your Edge kit. You probably want the adapter to be as close in size as possible to the smallest bore in your J&J Edge kit. If you are using paint that will roll out of a .685 bore, then you should probably get the .685 adapter with wedgits.

Don't forget that the emr marbs were junk. We all were having breaks and blowouts with it.

I've got almost a full case of Marbs that I can't use... Every other or every third shot breaks in my Blazer barrels. Same problem with Tomahawk paint, and not quite as many breaks with some ProCaps Actic Frost... Thought it was the wedgits, and after soliciting advice, decided to file them down a little. The Marbs still break, and I don't have any of the other paint left to test.

Today I bought a bag of Scorch or Inferno or something like that. Tested both Blazers and had no breaks, no issues...

Who knows how long those Marbs sat at Dicks Sporting Goods before I picked them up.

Here is the POG article about the adapter. From the second page:

Well, I had some older marbalizer (4-6 weeks) that must have swelled SLIGHTLY after I chron'ed. About every 5th shot I would shred a ball--not just break but SHRED!!! It was wierd because I shot about 50-100 shots at the chrono testing accuracy and quietness and not one break. I got back after the first game and tried the blow test...sure enough most of my balls were VERY tight in the wedgits so they were causing the balls to just explode once the valve was opened.

I don't think I've ever broken a ball in my borg so after 20 or so broken balls I got to test the shoot through ability of the sly on Sunday. After 2-3 shots I was getting darts so yea, it works like it claims. Of course I was only getting 1 or 2 good shots off before I was shooting swiss cheese again.

I then popped open my new case of marbilizer and they fit perfectly into the wedgits. I am guessing the wedgits push the id of the barrel down to probably .686-.687(have to ask craig what the ID is). Once I was using the correctly sized paint I didn't break a ball the rest of the day.

The 14" sly vrs 12" palmer double ported so far:
Both are about the same sound sig...very quiet. Not DM6 quiet but pretty darn close as the bolt click is about all people hear. Of course the sly weighs in at about a 1/4 the weight of my brass once the adapter is used. My palmer never seems to shoot clean unless I squeegie it so I for sure say the sly beats it easily there but since I only break a ball every couple cases I don't know...

Verdict:
If you want carbon fiber I would say to buy a one piece stiff since they make blazer and you can skip the adapter. This pretty much assumes you only shoot one gun though. The whole reason I bought the adapter is that I want to share barrels between guns. I like my sly and the three piece approach has zero performance degradation. I'll have to test it further but I was pretty much shooting ball on ball at 30-50 feet.

If you only shoot one gun then I would say just stick with brass...if you shoot an A/C barreled gun then the A/C barrel adapter rocks your socks.

I WILL be ordering another .690 adapter though without wedgits. I might also order a second one with extremely small wedgits -- I can't decided. That way I would have the .686-.687 and a .688-.690 barrel covered. I pretty much strictly shoot marbalizer and the current one works great for new boxes and I just need one for slightly older paint. Finally, if both are too small then I fall back to my .692 double ported brass!

I can't believe you would take a file to your PPS brass BEFORE trying different paint.

Travesty. That is all.

I sure didn't make that very clear, did I?

I did try more than one brand... Original post updated to reflect that.

Im also having a few "paint issues" with my Tomahawks. New box (at least new to me!) and it breaks like hell.
I'd like to start a quick survey:

Which brand of paint is most commonly used by Blazer users???

Thanks!
