ReBarreling a KP...

I'm going to be sending a KP in for a new barrel.. One of the new .685 bore.. Too combat the ever decreasing size of paint and the fact that I truly enjoy playing with a KP and it's getting frustrating to chrono...

Does the original bolt have to be turned to fit??? Do they just put delrin rings on it to make is smaller, I know the orings make it rather large ?? I was thinking of having them upgrade/replace the original bolt with a PPS one anyway...

Does anyone currently have a KP with the new barrel?? Opinions???

thanks... Jimmy La

I am sure that they would have to make you a new bolt to fit. I would suggest you go a little bigger... maybe .687. Should work just fine with a .685 ball, but is more flexible.

Also, the new EMR paint is reportedly .687.

We shall see.

I wasn't sure how many options they had... I know that the 685 is the new stuff.. I haven't heard of 687... But of course we're talking Palmer's so anything is do-able....

Let us know how the new paint is !!!! This weekend should live up to Endless Mud & Rain...

Nah, just today.

The weekend will be beautiful as I have already made a sizable offering to both the Sun God and Velcor on behalf of the team.

I think at one time they offered 688 but don't anymore. I think the only options now are standard, whatever that is 689-690, and 685(tight bore).

They had no medium bore barrel stock for a Hurc/KP when I ordered my Hurc 4 weeks ago. It's regular or tight bore right now.

I would go tight bore... Ive had issues with paint in my .679 cocker barrel rolling out, and often switch between that and a .685.

At least thats around here.

I suggest the same. I went tight bore barrel with shallow wedgits on my Hurc build. It should work just fine with the microscopic paint around here.

That is how i went on my Blazer....The stock .690-.691 had roll out issues. I just got a .685 and it does nicely with the Xball Bronze i have to use....field paint..

Since your doing this to a KP, does anyone know the price for refitting a Typhoon with a smaller barrel? I can call PPS, but wanted to ask if anyone has already done it. I imagine it is a couple hundred easy, but it is either that, or not playing with it.

I don't see the paint growing again, unless they can convince one of the suppliers to make a special grade.

You can try having the wedgits deepened so you don't have to do a total rebarreling.
