So, I've always wondered, what kind of efficiency does one get with a double barreled auto-cocking nasty typhoon type sheridan setup? In terms of 12g's I'm thinking maybe 20? And what about pump action? On a slightly different note, is there any difference in terms of consistency between both barrels when using an over/under setup as opposed to side-by-side? Or is it basically the same either way. Thinking more and more about something along the lines of a nasty pug the more I consider the idea.

There are some figures around here in the PPS section on this but I can't remember the numbers. Suffice it to say you won't like a 12g nasty unless you love changing 12ies. My nasty typhoon is pretty good on a 20oz and does go through it quicker than a single barrel gun for sure, but the efficiency isn't horrible. I think HurtCow posted some numbers awhile back on shot counts. Take a search and see what ye find.

I haven't posted any shot counts, but will say my NT is more efficient than, say, my Vector or Rainmakers.

Thanks! That was pretty much along my thoughts. Now I'm just wondering a little about over and under versus side by side differences in consistency or anything else. Over and under seems a lot less common, but this might just be due to the preferences of owners and possibly the cost difference.

The other issue is that since the sheridan valve is in the bottom tube of the stack there would be problems getting air to the top barrel. With a nelson based gun one might turn the barrels on the side and create some sort of side acting sear to trip the hammer, but is it worth the extra work?

Right this issue with the valve house linearly below the bores/chambers I was wondering if this affect velocity differences between the bottom and upper barrels. I would imagine as a slight cost in efficiency a restriction in the bolt face of the lower barrel could be tuned to achieve less flow and compensate for the upper chamber potentially not drawing as much gas... just my disjointed thoughts, I've never seen the guts of such as gun and obviously dream about it yes, the issue would be rather different for a double barreled nelson stacked like this, but tbh I'm not even interested (well, a little, but not nearly as much as to info on over/under nasty setups)

Side by side nasty painter using 22/3000 for every 28 trigger pulls. I used 500 psi. Never used 12grams, no data to provide.
