That Darn Pump Arm / Removing the bolt pin??

So, I love my Super Stocker to death. Some would say I LURVE it. Anyway, the only thing that prevents our love from becoming a perfect union is the pump arm end. I've aligned the arm perfectly, I've added skid tape to the body to keep the pump stable, and I've even marked the optimum position for the end and still I'll often find myself holding a pump that's not connected to a gun midway into a game.

I'm in the habit of checking the end every time I reload but I was wondering if anyone had developed any tricks to keep that end on the bolt pin better. I'd even happily lose quick strip-ability if it meant a more solid pump/arm.

Thanks,
Matt

I've put a small piece of electrical tape in the hole for the bolt pin in the past. It seemed to work. Bend the pump rod up a bit so that it's closer to the bolt. But I would generally agree, bad design. You could probably even remove the bolt pin and go with a sheridan style bent rod.

I've considered removing the pin and running with something a little more permanent but I can't figure out how the pin is held in, lol.

I should have been more explicit - does anyone know how to remove the bolt pin?

I had the EXACT same problem on my superstocker, I can't remember what I did to fix it either :-/

I have a solution in mind... I'd just rather it be reversible so I'm trying to figure out the least destructive way to pull the pin.

I beleive on mine, enlarging/widening the slot on the pin with a file let the bearings on the pump arm piece fully extend into the channel.

I find that bending the rod works for me. I bend it so that, at the rearmost point of travel, the pump arm linkage hole can't be wiggled off of the bolt by wiggling the pump handle.

For my markers, the knob you grip to pull the bolt pin will untwist from the rest of the pin if I heat the knob with a lighter for a short time. My knobs simply screw onto the pin and are loc-tited on.

That's what I figured looking at a picture of the pin. I'll see if I can unthread it.

I had this issue years back with my houndstooth... I think I bent the pump arm a tad to cause some friction.
