| KP2 Palmerization Question/Thoughts I’ve picked up an untouched side tube KP2. After scouring the Sheridan and PPS forums, I’ve decided to send it in for a performance tune, wedgits, detent and springfeed conversion. I’m not going to touch the finish, planning on duracoating it if necessary afterwards. The only thing I’m wavering back and forth on is the 12g vs CA. I’m a little particular about aesthetics, and I don’t like the look of a fast changer sticking out in front of the barrel. My thoughts were to leave the original 12g system in place, and get Palmers to tap and plug an airline where the CA would normally be attached. Is this possible? Is there room for both? I’m assuming the 12 g paraphernalia would be removed in a normal CA conversion, but if you were to leave it in and keep an empty 12g seated, would you be able to run CA? Thanks!

| What about drilling a small hole under the 12gram so you could use a dummy and thread an air line into it through the hole? When running 12'ies you'd just have a hole in the tube that wouldn't get in the way of anything.

| Supernatural Anaesthetist | The only problem with that is that you'd be removing the hose or fitting from the dummy every time you wanted to swap, which could lead to stripped threads. A better solution (functionally, not aesthetically) would be to cut a 12-gram dropout slot. That way, you'd just loosen the changer, pop out the 12-gram and insert the dummy. |

Thats a really interesting idea, I can see it being a little finiky, getting the hole lined up and screwing in the air line but I don't see why it wouldn't work. But I'm trying to keep the lines of the marker and avoid the KP3 CA look.

| Removal of a chunk off the front of the lower tube isn't hard.... cut across the tube.... heat.. it drops off. Clean surface and refinish. E

| If you arent getting rollout problems, then you might mention to not touch the barrel. Thats my 2 cents.

| just as Schmitti said above, they should not have to desolder the entire tube to remove the portion they cut away. you could also get them to side tap the valve and put a 90* elbow in there. you can keep the side tap plugged for 12 gram use and if you want to go CA, remove the plug and put in a quick disconnect fitting and run a remote. that would leave the gun very clean looking with out all the CA bracket crap. |
