So I finally got my Typhoon...

Received it in the mail yesterday. Upon opening the box, I thought it looked pretty good, a little dirty, but nothing a few baby wipes can't take care of.

So I tried to cock it - hmmm, hammer won't catch, bolt o-rings are swollen and the bolt barely moves.

I take the grip frame off, after popping the grips and UMB off - oh look, the sear's stuck down. Hmmm, it's rusty and seized in place - won't move - frame, UMB, switch, and hoses, are all covered in old paint, hammer is covered in what looks like old Loctite of some sort, but could be old oil.

So I take the sear out, polish the sear pin, clean the sear up (it was covered in rust) pop the frame back together, and think to myself I should make sure the valve is okay. I take a long Allen key and try to push on the valve stem - stuck. Push a little harder, it moves, finally. Seems pretty free now.

My biggest beef, aside from waiting a nearly a month after paying for it for it to ship, is that the guy sold it as being practically new in box, only used twice, and that it might need a little going over but was in pretty good shape.

Why do people do that?

On a side note, I got it for a pretty good price, so I'm not complaining too much.

Glenn Palmer does not hunt because the word hunting infers the probability of failure. Glenn Palmer goes killing.

I can relate...

I purchased a typhoon under the impression it was in working order. When it came it didn't work. I shoulda had more ?'s for the seller perhaps. Now, it's no problem it's at palmer's.

He just did not say where he used it, when it was out of the box, and where the box was stored. As long as you can tinker and you got a good deal on it.

The best PPS guns for sale (for function read as follows)

"I use the hell outta this thing. Heck I oil it up and shoot air at my mirror while shouting 'DIE", every Wed when my wife leaves the house to play Bridge (even though I know she is watching male strippers with her friends). I've shot about 200,000 paintballs with it in the last 9 years........Only selling becuase I have 4 and want one of those blazer thingys for my midlife paintball crisis.

I just filled it with warm water (which I do once a year), and shoot my basement walls with it, then dump a bunch of oil in it from PPS (man this bottle lasts a long time), and it works great."

Those...are the ones that will work when you open the box.

If you got a nice finished one with a good bore for your paint, and clean the heck out of it, it should still be fine...I just had to proport my cardinal rules.
NIB=lot rot, a never/rarely used PPS gun is an unhappy one.

You should see Drum try to shoot every hurricane at least once every week or so, that right there requires commitment.

This is fairly true in my experience as well. Unless of course the gun is literally a few monthes old.

It's so true what's said above. I've had better luck with cockers coming to me timed properly than Typhoons working out of the box. I swear it has to be the shipping of them.

It's going to get a nice bath once I have my CO2 tank filled, hopefully this weekend, and if I can find the darn thing. Then I plan to USE it. Hard. Often.

I've got some flat rings and new switch o-rings coming, should have them in the next couple of weeks.

Should also mention that I pulled what looked like a few blades of dried grass out of the grip frame, under the UMB.

I actually prefer to get my guns in petrified state or at least needing a little bit of love from me before they work again. It makes me feel a part of a piece if I must use my hands and brain on it to make it work.

As for PPS guns not shipping well, that is a fact. I am firmly of the belief that, depending on how far it travels and to where, a PPS gun is going to be adjusted for the new atmosphere of it's new home.

I also have a few PPS guns that have demonstrated a capability to endure the oddness of the EMR climate and atmosphere up there. And so, I never take these guns anywhere else so that they never have to be adjusted.

Good luck,
D
