Airhole sealing on a Blazer.

I was wanting to know what kind of process is used to seal the airholes on a Blazer. I have a project where I need to seal a tiny little hole in an aluminum body that will barely hold 80 PSI. I will also be re-annoing that area as well. Is there a cost-effective way that this method can be done? Can this be done by any jo blo machine shop?

Any competent welder should be able to plug the holes very quickly. If I'm not mistaken, that is how Palmer's seals the holes in the Blazers.

I believe they weld steel pins/plugs into them. The difference in the metals accounts for the trademark "dots" in the anodizing.

Tossing steel in an anno bath will screw up both the body and the anno bath - do not do that. And you cannot weld aluminum to steel without great difficulty.

The reason the welds are a different color is the difference in alloy (filler rod vs. body).

Yes the area is way too thin to use a grub screw.

My vote would be a quick tig weld. Take it in and have a welder put the appropriate filler in the hole. It'll most likely be very cheap.
