KP3 Mod questions

ok, some of my questions have been answered either over the phone or in other threads, but i thought this might be the best place to get info...
i have a KP3 that i plan on sending to PPS for some major work... performance tune, ultra quickstrip, hurricane ASA, barrel porting (a la RTP Viper 3-hole), derlin pump, possibly a sight rail, and either plating or powdercoating... now the questions:
1) with the Hurricane ASA, will i still be able to use 12gs? will efficiency suffer? i plan on using a WGP pump changer or a 3.5oz;
2) it has the CA adapter on the lower tube now... with the addition of the hurricane ASA will PPS plug up that tube? any other use for it?
3) i'm still a little confused about wedgits and detents and such... is it possible to get autococker-style detents (are these like detents on the blazers)? and where would the detents be installed... would they go in front of the bolt to prevent roll-outs? its not like i'll be using a force-fed hopper;
4) powdercoating or zinc plated... i'm leaning towards powder coating, but will the pump stroke rub it off?
thanks for any info
any pics that would illustrate the above mods would also be greatly appreciated. thanks

1) i'm sure you can use a pump changer in the Hurc ASA but it probably won't be as efficient as running 12 grams straight down the lower tube.

2) they'll plug it or you could just use an empty 12 gram and rod to plug it.

3) i'll let someone else explain that.

4) i'm sure the powder coat will rub. i've heard that PC is not that durable. i'd go with the black zinc.

I have the powdercoating on mine. They'll have to re-solder the tubes with silver, as the powdercoating oven cooks hotter than the melting point of the stock solder.

It is definately scratchable. I don't know how much more durable the zinc is. My pump wear is minimal- just makes the glossy coat dull so far.

the lady i spoke to at PPS over the phone yesterday said they're now using a lower temp powdercoating that eliminates having to re-solder the tubes.

If you are planning 3.5 oz or 12 gram. I would go with vertical asa. To cap the lower tube, just need to find a 12gram rod or just the cap itself. Like from a PGP? Definately go with the blazer ball detent if plan on using a force feeder. Wedgits are for small OD paint, to prevent rollouts. As for finish, nickel is the strongest. I have black PC on my KP2, does scratch pretty easy. But no pump handle wear.

maybe regular nickel... i doubt scratches or pump would show up as much on a lighter color.

you may consider Duracoat. that's tough stuff. i know Jimmy had one done in it and it held up very well. a lot better than PC.

PPS doesn't do duracoat, but it's possible to do yourself.

I have a duracoated 007 that Sparky refurbished, In my opinion it's the closest you'll get to an original Sheridan finish.
