two palmers regs dead in one week?

so the palmers full sized rock i have on my sandridge went caput on me earlier this week. worked fine, then the piston oring started leaking really bad. fixed it for a while with oil, but after a few more tanks, just couldn't get it to stop. its a 10 year old LPR, and i couldn't get it open so whatever, bought another one works great now.

now, i air up my merlin cocker, that has a micro rock on it. shoot it for a while, works fine. then i go to tune the LPR, starts leaking the same way, piston oring has got to be blown again. this reg maybe 3 years old

fixed it with more oil, but still not happy.

what the hell is going on here? if i could get inside them without destroying them and put new orings in there, maybe i'd be happier.

idk, i have always sworn by PPS regs, but these two LPRs are not making me happy.

maybe there is airborne debris coming from your tank fill

also make sure you dont use tri-flow or WD40 for oil as these contain solvents

only ever used pneumatic tool oil on them. and the fills are off a scuba tank, certified to be used as breathing air.

Maybe the PPS equipment is not happy about supplying air to WGP hardware.

My vote is coincidence.

I've had a Stabilizer creep on me and a 2 liter completely go caput (piston oring). I'd just try and find a way to get inside the reg without destroying them, replace the seal and call it good to go. The tricky part is just figuring out how to get inside. The Stabilizer I had I think had issues because I switched from CO2 to HPA and didn't put oil through it like I should have.

Let's face it CP, a ten year old reg and a 3 year old reg. It's highly possible it just could have been time to replace the seals.

if i could get in there and change them that would be wonderful.

but i can't.

the merlin has no WGP parts on it so it cant be that, now that i think about it, the sandridge doesn't either.
