Any tips for shooting with the Canon Rebel T3.

Found one that I couldn't pass up/was tired of browsing for cameras.
Brand new, the single lens 18-55mm kit, camera and software for $400

So as the title suggests, any tips for shooting with this thing?

also, it says it takes SD/SDHC/SDXC cards. Will a different format card yield different performance? How much does the card's "speed class rating" matter?

Will it work to put a micro SD card in a SD card adapter? (I only ask because I have a plethora of these sitting around the house that I've gotten free with various other tech purchases).

thanks

I just got the same exact set up. Right now I am reading the quick start up giude that it came with.(the small book in the box)

There are some good books for canons, done by pros. Anyone have advice on those.

Also down the line I am thinking of picking up some lenses. A better zoom and macro, any advice on these.

Scrapiron, hope you dont mind me tagging on.

People have a lot of great things to say about this macro Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens 0284B002 B&H Photo Video

This is a standard zoom http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc..._4_5_6_IS.html

This is basically your kit lens combined with a zoom http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc..._5_5_6_IS.html

This is a much better zoom because of seriously fast focus (USM) http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc..._4_5_6_IS.html

but if you're going to spend that much ^ you should just get a used one of these, this is what I use. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc..._f_4L_USM.html

hope that helps.

examples:

From the 18-55mm kit lens

From the 70-200mm F4L NON-Image Stabilizer (Bottom link, white lens)

One more thing, people usually get one of these at some point the "Nifty Fifty" http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...0mm_f_1_8.html

They're a fun lens. I'm selling mine for $90 shipped, it's in perfect condition.
This photo was taken with it

They're all the same size cards, some have different write and read features. I think you should be fine with a SDHC Class 10. The SDXC cards are in the $100's Memory Cards

SDHC class 10 starting at $20 (I use these and my camera cannot produce pictures as fast as the card reads them- my camera's processor is slower than the card) My HD camcorder required a Class 10 SD card to shoot video, I imagine that's sufficient for your T3 also.
SD

I can fit 750 RAW images on a 8gb card.
