Most bang for my buck Video Camera - mostly to post to Youtube...

I want a good video camera that will be used to post videos of the family as well as the projects I get into on Youtube.

What should I be looking for in a Camera with these broad perimeters?

I would say the canon t2i, but you could pay the extra 100-150ish for a t3i to get the oscillating back screen so you can look at what your recording no matter what angle your at. The extra 100-150 could be used towards another/better lenses though (canon f1.8 50mm).

The moveable back screen is really the only significant difference between the two, they are both essentially the same specs wise.

I would think a dedicated video camera would be better, but I am rather new to this as well.

I like the Canon Vixia cameras, I use the HFS21 currently (also use a Canon XHA1s, depending on the situation). It has a touch screen for setting up the camera, mic input (not XLR), manual focus knob, and a decent mic attachment that can be had on teh cheap, and actually cuts out background noises really well. There are other very similar models that could be found even cheaper.

These sold for $1200 or so when they first came out, not sure what they go for now.

Panasonic leads the field with a pretty large margin if you ask me. Their high-end consumer camcorders are wicked awesome, and they step down nicely across all price ranges. I have an SD600 myself, but I'm going to invest in a couple of SD90s for shooting paintball videos this coming summer.
