In the market for a wide angle

Looking for a wide angle lens for my 7D
do you guys have an recommendations?

I have already dropped a bunch of cash on the body and accessories , so used would be the best bet.
I have always looked at canon glass and have not paid much attention to other brands, so if you have a brand for me to check out let me know.

While I have not used one, I have heard good things about the Tamron 17-50mm. Seems to be a good option for the price.

17mm on a crop body isn't really wide.

Check out the Tokina 11-16mm 2.8, great little lens.

Lacking that, the Sigma 8-16mm or Tamron 10-20 are both decent lenses from what I've heard.

The Canon 10-22mm is supposed to be good, but more expensive than the 3rd party options.

I don't think it can go toe to toe with the Tokina option, but I've been pleasantly surprised by the Samyang (Bower, Rokinon) 14mm. I've only tried it with APS-C, though. Very nicely priced, too.

I have a Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 and it worked nicely on my Canon Rebel XT... Until I required to go faster.

Earlier this year I picked up a Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 for my Nikon D90 and it holds up great in concerts.

I miss the distortion with the Sigma but I am glad I can still go wide with the Tokina.

I like my 8-16 Sigma, enough to be the only lens I've travelled with on all my overseas adventures. It's a funny thing to use, really steep learning curve and getting a solid exposure is often difficult. One interesting note is don't worry about it being a 4.5-5.6, the lens tends to let in a pile of light and I find I'm always reducing the exposure by a 2/3's to a full stop compare to 'normal' lens.

Also the lens is rather small and light.

for all the stuff I was selling the T3(two lenses a bag and tripod with 4gig) with for a 24-105mm L

24mm on your 7d is right about 40mm (38.4 to be exact) and not very wide at all. either way, thats a great lens.

are you still considering an UltraWide lens?
