I was at a conference this past weekend and another photographer was there photographing the speakers. Some Nikon D2/3/4(not really sure) body with a 70-200 f2.8 I believe, with another smaller body with some smaller lens on it. I looked at some of his work from the trade show when I got back and every shot was a good two stops underexposed. Made me chuckle.

I had one in the DSLR size, and while it is a very handy tool for a lot of situations, it is also highly limited. If you do get one, then get one with a suitable ball head. I rarely used mine, and ended up giving it to a friend who was getting into photography, and couldn't afford a proper full sized tripod, but wanted to be able to do at least a little work.

A friend of mine who is an avid vlogger has a small one that he uses with his little Kodak Camcorder. He loves it because he can take it anywhere. It literally sets up anywhere. He's told me he took it into a cafe and recorded a short Vlog while on a trip, something he couldn't do with a full size tripod. That said, I think I would have trouble trusting my $4200 DSLR/lens on top of one. |
