As a matter of fact, you CAN make a photograph without a camera! You can buy liquid emulsion, most often called "Liquid light." we did this in college on a large scale, and turned an entire wall of our lab into a photograph. Very cool project!

I forgot about him good on you for bringing him up. My XTi would be considered entry level but I shot film for years before going digital. Lots of people I know bought into 7d's and 5d mkii's because they could. I know what I'm doing and use cheaper lenses and run rings around them all day. Just proves the person behind the lens means more than the camera they are using about 99% of the time

People talk about the technology, because they are not equipped to talk about the vision.

Yeah, but you used some means of controlling and focusing the light onto a photosensitive surface to produce an image. aka, a camera.

How much work did you get to do with the really early photography methods? Personally I really want to get into the very early style wet plates. Having to prepare your plate, take the photograph, and then develop it, all within a few minutes from start to finish sounds like a lot of fun and challenge.

QFT full HD video is what 1920x1080 that's less than 2MP stills out of a frame. So even a cheap *** P&S has your *** handed to you there. I'd put any photo from my XTi up against a still from an HD professional level video camera any day cause I know the photo quality on my XTi is about 5x as high in terms of sheer pixel count then given the fact i'm using lenses designed specifically for stills and am able to adjust aperture and shutter and such to adjust to lighting means I could take any picture you pull from a video and just rip it to shreds from a technical perspective.

I heard the same about some really highly praised wedding photographer who shoots with a older P&S camera.... Something about 80K to shoot your wedding?
