A couple rolls through an $11 Camera
 

I was helping my girlfriend set up shop at a pop-up market downtown, and went for a walk when I got bored. Ended up in a junk shop and found a Mamiya 500 DTL with a $10 sticker on it rattling around in a box, plopped a decent looking 55mm f1.7 on it and walked out with no idea if it would work or not. The aperture in the lens is stuck wide open, but the meter works. I put a couple rolls of drugstore 400 iso through it just to see what would happen, and was pleasantly surprised.

Nice. I found an AE-1 on my local Kijiji for $50 for with a 50mm and a 70-300 lens. I'm thinking I may pick it up and do just what you did. grab some film and have some fun. Ah how I miss my old Pentax ME Super. Great camera but once I moved to digital it just sat. I guess maybe now with playing with old pb stuff since it's better buit maybe it's time for a return to film for the fun of it.

Film still rocks, just has a certain quality you can't replicate.

Ebay's "Film Cameras" section is a personal favorite. Scroll through BIN and with a $20 budget come away with a professional quality tool capable of producing amazing results.

Digital is fine for people who just look at images on screen. But in your hands, there's still nothing quite like a good film print...especially when you're blowing out the highlights...

Why does everyone else get the cool stuff at junk stores! I never get anything :(
