Candid shot, but I'm wondering what you all think.

nice and sharp love the colours. Personally I would have framed it a little differently. it seems a little long on the left side too much almost dead space.

Given that the picture is good and crisp and captures the child well I'd say it's a solid 6/10 if it were framed a little differently to capture more of the alley experience (ie frame it so you can see him and maybe the foul line and a few feet of the actual lane. I'd say it could easily be an 8-8.5/10 picture

Couldn't wait for the "Rate the picture above.." reply? :p

I agree with Falcon, I love the crispness and the candid nature of the picture, but the upper left corner seems a little much. There are so many colors in that portion of the image and with them being out of focus, for some reason, my eye gets drawn to that portion of the image more than the child.

I agree. I look at the child for a second, then I think "hmm, what's that stuff over there? I wonder what that is on the wall. It looks like some sort of... cat or something."

Isn't there a thread for that?

Ha ha ha, I thought there was deja vu or something!

I would have preferred the empty space be in front of the subject. Their challenge lies ahead in the lanes.

Agreed. It also seems just a touch over saturated to me.

The reason I posted here as well was because I wanted more than one opinion.

Thanks. I started the camera with the AF point far right, with it in AI servo, and just pointed and shot without any adjustments. I'm surprised I got a good exposure to be honest. Thanks for the insight.

With Dad's foot photoshopped underneath the ball in the air and OOPS in the background. NOW we're telling a story!
