looking for old digital cameras for classroom project

Hey guys
My wife is a first grade teacher and she had a really cool idea. She wants to put cameras into the hands of all her kids for when they go on field trips and things.
Being a teacher, however, money isn't just laying around.

What I'm looking for is people that have done older digital cameras that they would like to donate to the classroom. All they really need is to work and have a memory card or be able to store the images on the camera. I'm sure i have enough cables laying around but yeah...

Show me what you got and thanks in advance.

Let me see what we have laying around. Another thing to consider is memory cards and batteries.

I wish I could send some old cameras but I don't have any. This is a very good idea! It's awesome to see the perspective of life that a child sees.

If you happen to need any CF cards, let me know. I have a few smaller capacity cards that I have no use for.

Might consider putting up an ad on Craigslist or what not. You might be surprised!

Digital cameras aren't exactly kids friendly, not for first graders at least. Did you try buying a bulk load of disposables?

You'd be surprised at what these kids can pick up. The classroom actually has a set of iPad minis that the kids get to use.

I'm in the process of taking to people on craigslist now.

Thanks ballyhoo! If i need em I'll let you know

Good luck with the project, but sadly I have none to give. My old cameras have a habit of either being worked till they are near dead (In which case they often found their way into parts bins and reused/killed for robotics), or considered basically obsolete and given away to friends and family.

You could also pop into local pawn shops and ask what they have on hand. Piles of worthless digital cameras that never sell seem to be a common sight in any shop I've poked my head in. Might be lucky enough to find what you need for a song or cup of extra large coffee. (Can't tell you how many random robotics projects have been fuelled for parts by bringing someone an extra large coffee and offering to take something off their hands.)
