70 year old WW2 images

Figured I'd share these. They were posted over on POTN and it's amazing to see the quality. All of the images at the link below were shot on Kodachrome film and it's obvious the photographer was WAY ahead of his time. Hope you guys enjoy it

He nick named the gun Reggie.

I'll be honest the guy in picture #11 could pull off a Steve McQueen look alike.

Ive always liked how the older film picks up the colors & lighting differently then the current cameras do.

Very cool! I'm not sure the one with the plant workers was taken on Kodachrome though.. there is too much uniformity in colors on the peoples skin and in their clothes. I'd have to look at it real carefully again, but first glance makes me think it was a black and white that was colored.

And if you are interested in other WW2 photos... especially airplane related, take a look at The Bloody 100th's page:

My great uncle was the Ordinance Officer for the 349th.

I recognized the course at Ft. Knox in the pic with the tank in the mud. I drove an Abrams through that same course in 2001. Awesome pictures. Thanks for sharing.

No problem guys. I figured if I was blown away my fellow photography enthusiasts would be as well. I had a hard time believing some of them were Kodachrome but it was buried somewhere in there that all images were on kodachrome film. End of the day for the time they were over the top mind blowing good and even now most people have to use very very high end gear to achieve this level of sharpness and contrast and really really well saturated colour

Kodachrome is absolutely amazing to me. There are so many great black and white, old photographs from the WW2 era but they only describe so much. I love the tones of Kodachrome and it really gives an unmatched feel and representation of the time. Thanks for sharing, I really enjoyed these photos.
