A good or great canon portrait lens
I am doing some group shooting this weekend and I was wondering what is a good portrait lens that can handle low light to rent?
Currently I have this:
Product no longer available | George's Camera & Video Exchange[name]=Canon-EF-70-200mm-F%2F4L-USM-Lenses---SLR-%26-Compact-System&catalog[product_guids]=381046
and the Canon Pancake.
This is the list that I can pick from:
Cost is not much of an issue, but I want to get the best bargain vs. quality.
If it were me, I'd look at a fast prime like the 85 f1.2, the 100 f2 or the 135 f2. At 2.8 they're nice and sharp and would work well in low light.
For group is look more to the 50 1.2L. The 17-40L is super nice but you'd probably be better off with the 28-70.
I guess I should have fill in more detail:
I am not too concern about the group photo, I think I can use the pancake for that and call it a day.
My main focus is the couple's photos after the group photo. I am shooting around 4 PM - San Diego time and 7 PM (still bright out).
Well then exactly what duke said.
What body will you be using?
Mark 5 D II
I just picked up a 50 f1.4. I really like it so far and it works great it low light. Cheaper to rent than a 50 f1.2.
I use a 50 1.4 or 50 1.8 for my portraits. I would like a 85 1.8 or 85 1.4 for portraits.
The 85 1.2 is a GORGEOUS lens especially on the MKII, I rent it all the time for beauty shots and interviews.
