$499 - I wanted a tablet anyways for fooling around with. Motorola annoyed me fooling around trying to release the most expensive model of the Xoom first so I bought a laptop to deal with my "real" computing needs such as they are.

That and cut the rope is not available on Android.

It's being advertised as a lighter version of the iPad. 0.2 pounds lighter.

But the real question is Will It Blend?

LOL. I bet it will blend. Good call on getting the iPad over one of it's competitors. Why get a knock-off when you can have the real deal? *ducks*

Probably a wise choice, the Xoom so far seems to be a decent device but at the ipads price point it is a hard buy. I have been playing with mine all day and the one killer feature it has is tabbed browsing. I only wish the iPad offered it. The Xoom is fast, responsive, and rough around edges but pricey at 800, compared to the iPad 2 499 or even the iPad 1 399 price. Granted some apple to oranges comparison there. No pun intended.

Terrible picture of the Galaxy next to the Xoom, it somehow attracts more fingerprints than the Galaxy or iPad but I blame it on its default black and blue color schema.

At $499 I would have bought the Xoom (Flash support). Not at the price they are getting though. Yes, I know 32GB, 3G / 4G - but I dont need these - frankly I don't NEED a tablet. However it is really a toy with only mild usefullness, and at that point the price difference between the cheapest Ipad and the cheapest Xoom (currently available) means Apple wins. The cover thing is really neat. An Apple thing - no usefullness but super neat cosmetic and I want it.

The ipad should have tabbed browsing, as my iphone 3gs does.

We (wife and I) have been holding out these last few months for the iPad2. I'm happy with the new features and upgraded hardware. I think it will be very nice. I'm looking forward to the 1080p output, should be nice to watch Netflix movies on TV with that rather than hook up my laptop. And as far as weight reduction goes, 1.5 pounds to 1.3 pounds is a 15% weight reduction, I'd say that's fairly substantial. Granted, it might be hard to tell the difference between 24 ounces and 20.8 ounces, it's still a lighter model.

Pif, iOS has a version of tabbed browsing but Honeycombs implementation is much better, it looks like firefox or chromes tabs and you can simply click the tab header to switch instead of clicking the little icon in the bottom to bring up the list then scrolling to find the one you want then clicking on it. Makes a world of difference.

Also it seems the HDMI adapter will work with other devices but limited to 720p.

Now I have to debate to get the new iPad or stick with my old one.
