LCD needs repair- but can I do it myself?

Hi there. I found a Sanyo LCD TV in the parking lot where I work, obviously derelict. When powered up, it looks like someone kicked it. This fracture does not appear to be on the surface, when powered down. What uh... layer is this? Can this be brought in for repair somewhere for less than the cost of buying a new one? If it'll run 2-300 dollars, I'll keep it.

Thank you!

Sarasota. I've wanted to play with you, Flunkn, and Cleric for some time.

Once the crystal of an LCD TV is fractured I believe there is no reparing it. If it looks like a cracked watch face with the liquid leaking from around it then it is definitely DOA.

Ok, Flunkin is in DC from what I was told. I don't know if he came back or not. Cleric I emailed today to check in with him, and you're more than welcome to take a ride over the bridge and come on up

As for the TV, there's a place up here in Pinellas Park that repairs high tech TVs at a fair price. If you're interested I can find his number for you.

Titus, I would love the number of that place. Give me an email (my pm box is full) if you'd be so kind.

Ebay scares me. But when I do bid, it's usually on Automag stuff. I'm Fifty_Beavers.

As for meeting up for a game, bear in mind I have no pumps anymore, but when I play it's my 30-ball A5 or a homebrew pistol.

Electronics on ebay are scary. My bro bought a 22 CRT monitor <big and heavy to ship> that was advertised as black and had a photo. It was the model that he wanted. It arrived, completely different monitor, spray painted black <still wet> and basically broken. He had to pay return shipping and ended up losing 40 dollars or something even with the refund he had to fight tooth and nail for.

Screwed up stuff.

Hope you can get it repaired.

The 8" barrel on the AR is very useful in home defense. Suppose you have 10-20 intruders. Fine, let's just round up to a platoon. The 8" barrel allows for maneuvering around open doorways and hallways with greater ease. The platoon split into squads. There's a squad of 5 down the hall ahead of you checking out your 52" Sony LCD and 5 behind you in the bedroom going through your wife's underwear drawer. Toss a flash bang into the bedroom to buy some time. Rock and roll on the squad lifting the TV. Now, with your 8" barrel effortlessly pivot around and easily eliminate the disoriented bedroom intruders clutching their ears from the flash-bang. Since the other squads are outside the residence, in reserve awaiting orders, simply detonate the pre-positioned claymores hidden around the perimeter to finish the operation. All because of the short barreled rifle...

Try EarthLCD.com redirects to our NEW Home Page - http://store.earthlcd.com/ they have lots of kits, as well as raw panels....Pretty much your best bet would be to take it apart and see who made the panel, and what type it is. There are quite a few places that sell replacements of all sorts, and they are pretty reasonable too...
