I could use some computer help....

History - my boss bought me a new laptop which came with Vista installed. I hated it and couldn't load 1/2 my business software on it so I decided to wipe it and load XP Pro. The Laptop is a Toshiba Satellite P105 S6197.

Problem - I wrote down all my drivers (except the sound driver) and was able to recover all hardware except my sound. The recovery disk has a "Conexant audio driver 4.8.0.0 logo r2 driver (vista) listed and if I try to install it, a "Venice high definition audio driver" tries to load but locks up.

I am unsure of the card installed on this laptop and was wondering if anybody has any ideas what I need to do for my next step. I did try loading the microsoft generic high def audio driver and about 50 others hoping to get lucky and get this to work.

thoughts If you need any more info or what not just ask I am sure ^^^ is a bit confusing

check see if Toshiba has an XP driver set for your model. If not you may be out of luck. I've started to see a good bit of vista-only hardware starting to surface.

If you feel that you are up to the following hack, give it a try:

Toshiba P105 HD audio driver for XP

I did something similar to get a Toshiba Satellite to recognize my Nvidia notebook video chiipset in Vista.

Thanks guys,
I found a forum for drivers and a ton of people had the same problem. Someone found a solution there and I followed it. Worked well.
