The physics are decent enough in this game that you actually have to do math to reach achieve a proper orbit and do transition orbits to properly reenter. There is also an escape velocity, which I believe is 3,500 m/s. If you go that fast, you are not coming back.

The game is still apparently under serious development, and I can't wait for it to be developed further! If he asks for it, I may pay for this one, like I did for Minecraft.

Love it, orbiting is where it's at, distance isn't as fun once you break free of gravity.

Get a ship to ~40,000m, nose parallel to the horizon, zero vertical speed and a velocity of around 2300 m/s for a basic low orbit, for an added challenge to to deorbit and land near the start after one pass.

This ship reached Mars in 3 hours and 42 minutes.

Next to do is orbiting, and fastest speed free of gravity.

Hate to burst your bubble, but I believe Mars is farther than 54,000 kilometers.

k's are not kilometers in this game, 1k = 1000000m.

Nope! This is a screenshot taken RIGHT after the altimeter unit flip. You'll notice the first digit is in the thousands place. In this picture, I have traveled one million meters, or one thousand thousand meters, or one thousand kilometers. The "K" is indeed kilometers.

Achieved my first orbital flight today. It was a very loopy orbit with an apogee of about 269km and a perigee of about 48km. Unfortunately for the Kermens I did not have any engines left over to deorbit them. That's going to be the goal for the next generation of designs.

And for the next generation of pilots?

Fun game, and I may have to steal the idea and work on my own space sim system. (But only because I want more detail in component designs, rather than just pre-made components. And it looks like it would be a fun challenge.)

So far I've have made it to 'orbit' several times with a bit of toying around with it. I've yet to actually orbit the planet. I seem to always misjudge my rates and exceed escape velocity, or not get to a vector that allows a complete orbit.

This game is tons of fun. Can't wait until the next version.
4 stage vanilla parts getting to 32000k after 3 and a half hours, speed constant at 2454.0. this game is kinda fun.
