Made my second space plane earlier, much more stable flight than my first, and it's got twin engines and more fuel:

Topped out near 40,000 meters altitude, came back nicely for return to landing. I didn't get a picture of the landing cause apparently, you can't hit those little lights at the start of the runway... they will destroy you

Going to try adding another engine for space-flight when I get some time to play again, this plane should have enough fuel capacity for low earth orbit round trip flight

Lol watching some of the moon landing videos it seems this game is very touchy on landing and collisions. Saw a guy trying to dock at a space port, bumped it too hard and the entire thing exploded, same with someone trying to land on the moon.

My first goal is to get a large space station above the planet to use for refueling towards longer voyages later.

That is what I've been doing for my current game. Attempting to build a fuelling/research station in polar orbit, then shifting it to equatorial. Possibly will get really ambitious and shift it to geosync as well, or just keep it in a low/mid orbit.

How did you get two command pods / cockpits in there?

Select your primary one as the first step of creating a new craft, then go back to the command pod tab of the item selection window?

just grabbed the full version again (decided to pirate to cough acquire it cough) and it's got some nice improvements from the early versions. I'm still trying to remember how you can put your craft up really high in the build window to slide stages underneath but I'll keep fiddling with that said getting something to stable orbit is much much easier than I remember. I did it with something that had 2 stages of rocket boosters and then a single stage of liquid fuel rocket using 2 fuel tanks stacked. Haven't tried a space plane yet

Click your base command pod and use your scroll wheel option to raise or lower the height of your rocket.

Thanks, I had tried that earlier and it didn't work but now it works. I guess there was something the builder didn't like the first time.

Edit:

Testing out my new moon rocket and saw this. KSP sure has it's cool moments.

Just buy it *******. They're a tiny Dev and its only like 17 bucks. Save the pirating for EA games.
