Want to buy an X-Box 360. Need help.

I know very little about want XBox to get - what is needed - and what is not.

So - if you were to buy an XBox 360 primarily for playing 1st and 3rd person shooters (not a ton - I am not a serious gamer) what would you recommend.

Do I need a cooler?
What Size Hard Drive?
Controllers?
Headsets?
XBOX Live?
Remote Controls?
WTF? BBQ?

Thanks,

TF

I would get the cooler...its loud as hell but better safe than sorry.

The premium comes with 1 wireless. I would buy a second wireless...don't waste your time on the wired version because the wireless is only $10 more.

The headset comes with your 12 month Xbox live subscription. If you have the scratch I would buy a wireless also. If you game alot like myself you'll need the wired headset while your wireless is charging.

You wont need the remote control. I purchased the High def player for my 360 and it came with the remote...it functions the same as the controller.

New 360 elite comes with a 60 gig hard drive (or 80) and a cable and outs for a better hook-up for Hd. Don't know if you need the Hd end of it. Rumors are that the lower and mid range set-ups will be coming down in price, maybe even a hundred bucks in the relatively near future

Do I need a cooler? Not really, unless you live in a very hot environment, and have no intentions of keeping it in a cooler place.
What Size Hard Drive?Depends on how much stuff you plan on downloading. The 20gb is fine right now, as you can get another down the road should you need to.
Controllers?Wireless are great. An extra wouldnt hurt if you have a freind over.
Headsets? My freind has one for every controller. Personally, we only ever use 1. With other co-op games coming out though, I'd imagine it would be wise to pick up an extra later.
XBOX Live?Well, if you want to play online, which imo, is one of the selling points of the 360. It has amazing online service.
Remote Controls? If you have a wireless controller, no real need.
WTF? BBQ?If you dont want to deal with ethernet cables and you have a router setup in the house already, the wifi network adapter is a good thing up pick up. Not to mention, you can stream stuff from windows right onto the 360, to save space on your 360's HDD.

Thanks,

TF
Hope that helps a bit.

If you need to know anything else, lemme know. Freind has had a 360 for almost a year, and we've gotten into just about everything you can get into with it. He currently has to send it to get fixed, as it just burnt up.

*EDIT* The Elite is pretty much useless, other than the black color and the HDD. The HDMI stuff for it is practically no better than the standard component cables.

The elite comes with HDMI cables...and unless your fanatical you will be just fine with the component. I run full HD through mine and I can guarantee you wont notice a difference.
