DVDFab only watermarks if you are recoding into another format. If you are just copying from DVD to HD, it can not watermark. Then use can use WinFF, which is open-source, to convert to H264/AAC.

This is an annoying 2-step process, but thats the only downside of using free software. DVDShrink used to be able to do both, but that hasnt been updated in 5 years, and is not able to copy many recent DVDs.

As for the audio? I don't know. usually thats because the format is left as ac3, which is not a typiclly installed codec.
Thanks for the help! I was able to use the DVD ripper to convert it to the MP4- H264/AAC file and put it on the USB stick! Worked great! I think i am going to just buy the DVDFab- DVD ripper hopefully it removes the watermark! As it seems to be the fastest and easiest way to put them on a hard drive! Thanks for the Help.

I'm just curious...why go through all this work? OKay, to be fair I have a couple of TB's of media files that I myself play across my network (I just use an older computer as a network server)...but at the end of the day I don't ever watch the same movie more than a couple of times and it's not that hard to just put the DVD into a Blu Ray player.

Because i have a two year and he is not so gentle on DVDs! I already had to throw out two DVD's! Not to mention it is just easier to have them in one spot. I can take all my DVD's and put them in storage and give me more room for more crap! LOL

That's a pretty good idea right there. I might have to figure something like this out. Either a networked box that holds everything, or a solid state drive, since the boys will certainly break a disk drive.

Using DVDfab- its pretty easy to use and can rip into any format needed! I find the picture quality pretty good hard to tell the differance!

I used to help friends with kids make copies...if you're talking regular DVD's, shrinking them down down to the size of a single layer DVD doesn't compromise quality that much and if we're talking kids, they don't care and don't notice. Making a copy from DVD to DVD is easy and cheep (software free). The kids watch the copies and the masters go into the closet. If they ruin them just make another copy.
