It's a paintball site which has many members who still love their AGD, AKA, WDP etc markers and are very loyal. It's no different than people crying about the people who are complaining about SP.

a lot of of us still have the paintball mentality we earned in the 90's. Its like a cubs fan hating the cardanals or a red sox fan hating the yankees, no matter what happens they are still and always will be the evil empire. Of course, some of us hated them for other reasons, long before hating them was really fashionable.

I picked up one of these straps some time ago and have been exteremely happy with it: Black Digital Camera Sling Strap Carry Speed for Rapid Fire of DSLR Body or Lens | eBay

It's very compfrtable and about half the price of the Black Rapid straps. I alos like that I can attach a quick release plate on strap plate.

Did I blame Smart Parts? I don't think so. I saw a thread about a company that had some similarities. I don't hate Smart Parts, but I don't like or agree with how they went about the things that happened. I'm from PA so when I started playing EVERYTHING was Smart Parts in my area.

I posted this in the photography section because it pertained to photography not paintball. I figured it would be a civil discussion because of this being a nice quiet corner of MCB.

Again this was not a "what did Smart Parts due to the paintball industry" thread. It was more "is this other company trying to due something similar?" There are many people here who visit other sites that might know different facts than what was posted throughout that thread on POTN.

I ended up picking up a Luma. Haven't spent a day carrying the camera yet, but I already have some feelings on this strap.

Pro: much longer then the stock canon, I can carry it over the shoulder comfortably and still be able to move the camera into position. Has a couple of options for ways to mount it and has the easy adjust cinch (which I haven't found reason to use). seems overall well constructed and price was reasnable and delivery was well under the two week built time they indicated.

cons: I find the shoulder pad a bit narrow, I have a feeling after a day of use I might be wishing it was just a bit wider and thicker even on my T1i + 15-85 (so not a super heavy setup).

other obeservations: Although the standard mounting is from the tripod screw and one strap point, I ended up just using the strap points due to not wanting to keep taking off my tripod mounting plate. Camera still slings and carries ok for me. Overall for the price, I consider this a big upgrade over the stock strap just for being able to comfortably sling it over my shoulder instead of all the weight on my neck. however, were I doing it again I might look more at other straps or even sew my own now that I am getting a better idea of what I really want.

I prefer Luma Labs products to Black Rapid.

BR shouldn't have been granted a patent on the sling, the fact that they got one blindsided a lot of other companies.

The new Luma Labs Cinch is superior in every way, absolutely love it.
