Going to drop World of Tanks for this game when it goes live....I've been playing the mechwarrior / battle tech games since the mid 90's.

I was going to say the same until a certain other game showed up on the radar.

I'm not a fan of the combat in MWO so far, I think it loses to MWLL due to lacking the combined arms aspect - and both are tied by the restrictions of the literature and lore. There's going to be teamwork, but I don't see a high ceiling for individual skill - I think it's actually lower then World of Tanks at the moment (even with all it's randomness and pay-to-win nonsense).

Individual skill comes in greatly from what I've heard . Apparently one guy in a hunchback can take out several mechs per match quite easily, atlases included.

I've found atlases are pretty easy to drop in anything under 60 tons, they just soak up so much of your time and firepower that the other team is able to blow you away while you circle the atlas.

In an 8 vs 8 game individual skill seems to have a massive impact on the game, the larger mechs are just too slow and cumbersome to develop or display any of it.

NDA lifted, speak freely

My best chassis is the aforementioned hunchback, I ride a founder's variant with the AC/20 swapped out for a Gauss rifle, and small lasers on the arms and head hardpoints. I'm usually good for 2-3 kills a match, usually doubling the tonnage of my mech.

I haven't really played since the speed cap nerf on lighter mechs. I really wanted to play a light/medium mech but without escapability I just kept getting owned.

The light mechs can still go ridiculously fast. The mechs that really got nerfed were the assault mechs. They can only use an engine 1.2x what their default engine is, the lights only 1.5. Which means you can still put an XL300 in a jenner. This is keeping xl400 awesomes from seeing the field, which while extremely expensive to repair, were way too fast. They outran many lighter mechs with an engine that size.
