I just tried dual ac/2's on the yen and barely had the weight capacity for any reasonable amount of ammo, and that's running with an xl250 engine. The problem with the yen lies with the centurion mech's design in MWO. The shoulder joints are just too prominent. Take out the shoulder/Right torso and you lose the right arm. You lose the right arm and there go half your weapons in one shot. With an XL like I run it's all over.

I've noticed you have to run a standard engine with the Cen, if you do that and try to have good weapons in the CT, you can soak up quite a bit of damage. I've seen them in the 10-20% armor range. Of course, that is not a very large load-out, but still respectable for it's endurance. The heaviest I can comfortably go is with a Hunchback, with either Gauss or AC20. Though, I do think they need to fix the size of the Centurion. It's as large as an Atlas, which is twice its weight. If they fixed that, along with the width, it would be a pretty powerful mech.

yeah the centurion does have pretty good overall survivability, but when you rely on your arm weapons for your principle damage dealing, survivability takes a backseat. The variants of the centurion that use missile launchers are infinitely better. Nobody ever targets the left arm or left torso because the left arm doesn't carry weapons. That and LRM's and streak missiles are way OP. Streaks in particular. I watched a Catapult C4 that was down to no armor on LT, CT and RT but equipped with 6 streak SRM2 launchers take down another Cat C4 and an awesome and both of those mechs were fresh. |

Honestly, they better put knockdown/collision back in before open beta...light mechs just dominate now. I pilot a Jenner exclusively and it isnt even challenging anymore, there used to be an element of fear when you were getting in close with a bigger mech, now its just laughable.

That is very true tiny, I forget about it when I play, but more often than not my tactic was to tackle, so it comes as a surprise when I just float through...makes for a laugh, and generally I get cored. I always enjoyed tackling a Cat with a Raven, after putting a large slug in it's CT.

This video has to be the most amusing MWO clip I've watched thus far : It has so many puns...but I'm not sure if this is considered safe for work or not....

Well, open beta is here. I wonder when we can start the Mechanized Coitus Brigade... At least there arn't any more resets, but I am sad there are no more collisions until the fix the netcode. At least all the new players won't be on the ground half the time. But, at the same time, lights are now just that much better with nothing to worry about.

Damned Open Beta... Brought more personalities that I would have hoped. Also, mega hipster moment here... This is why my name is aresfiend. Anyways, anyone that's playing MWO should add me. I'm the same name there as I am here. |
