The kodiak is a 100 ton jump jet capable mech, that being said I'd take my warhawk over it anyday.

Oh I know there were heavier Assault 'mechs with JJ's, but I seem to remember something about 80 tons being the sweet spot to get the heaviest 'mech with the highest mobility at the lowest cost. Man, it's been almost a decade since I've cracked the BT rulebooks (and sold them off...), so I can't remember what it was exactly. Did the weight of JJ's go up after 80 tons? Or the number of slots they occupied? Help me out here, guys, been a long time.

ok, I will be 'that nerd'.

As per the construction rules in my Battletech Compendium (1640) the jump jets were
10-55 tons = .5tons per jump mp
60-85 tons = 1.0 tons per jump mp
90-100 tons = 2 tons per jump mp

most assualts and logically designed heavies did not place significant emphasis in mobility, particularly before the clan invasion in 3050.

Got the free MW4 mercs. No actual joystick but I found a pretty decent mouse/keyboard setup that will work until I have my cockpit set up proper

Thanks, that's what I was looking for.

That's the tactical flexibility XL engines and ferro-fibrous, and all the rest of the higher performance yet lighter technology brings with it.

Anything introduced in the wizkids era doesn't count.

lol, I'd also point out that an Ares takes 3 personnel to operate while the stone rhino requires only 1.

and the "stone rhino > 12x Atlas" was not an unfounded opinion. Last summer when I had my mech sim set up in my basement running MW4 I decided to take on waves of Atlas lances and managed to drop 12 before they finally wore me down.

*besides, it just looks cooler

Eh, I've done that in a dire wolf and a black knight. The AI in that game was pretty incapable at long range.
