I think I'm going to do it as well, do we have enough for some lance on lance action?

I was always a fan of the Thor (Summoner), heavier armament but still mobile... I rarely used anything heavier than that if I could avoid it. Used to strip it and pack on as much Ultra AC or LBX as I could. I liked being able to run in, hammer the crap out of the enemy and not really have to worry about overheating.

Conversely, my buddy's fave setup of all time was a Daishi with nothing but ER Large Lasers and heatsinks. He called it the Iron Knuckle. One shot, and it overheated, but pretty much anything short of an Atlas was dead if that shot landed, and even heavier mechs would take so much damage it would buy him time to recover from the overheat.

One of my favourites was a Dire Wolf (Daishi) with 6 ER Large Lasers and 2 clan gauss rifles, absolute beast of a mech.

I had more fun using a black knight with 4 ER PPCs and jump jets:

fire all 4, dump all coolant, fire all 4 again, jump jet, overheat and shut down in mid air, restart on landing, fire all 4, jumpjet, shutdown in mid air, etc. It was really, really fun albeit a bit abusive.

I wonder since this is a pay for content type of game, if they will be able to license "The unseen" for use in this game. They were always my favorites in appearance (I started in this 'universe' with Battledroids).

The content you pay for is just cosmetic stuff like mech liveries.

The unseen are a bunch of battlemech designs that were ripped off from other franchises. He's thinking that since this game has a revenue stream, they might be able to license those battlemechs for use in the game from their IP owners. Some of the more iconic mechs disappeared because of this, the warhammer and rifleman were 2 that I really crushed me.

edit: and the stone rhino. I know that's going to sting someone...

edit2: Here's a list of all the mechs we won't see due to licensing. It's also my understanding that the warhammer shown in the original mechwarrior 5 trailer was cause for legal action. I think Piranha received a cease and desist when the trailer was released.

The annoying thing is that the "unseen" were the original battlemechs in the game, and much of the original fiction and artwork in the universe is based on them.
Worse, from a gameplay perspective the designs covered some of the more fundamental concepts of purpose-based mech design. It doesn't make sense for there not to be a Locust, Rifleman, or Archer, for instance.
